In 2017—at 37 years old—Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer and began targeted hormone therapy to kill the estrogen in her body, induce premature menopause, and lower her risk of recurrence. Within days, Anna found herself in menopause. While her doctors had thoroughly prepared her for the mastectomy, she was ill-prepared for the plethora of menopausal symptoms she immediately began to experience.
Anna penned an essay for HuffPost Personal about her experience with early menopause, which went viral. Blown away by the response from readers, she realized certain taboo symptoms of menopause have long been ignored. Anna is determined to help change public discourse around this.
Anna has been a guest on The Tamron Hall Show, and published in The NYT, Vogue, Cosmo, Salon, HuffPost, Insider, Zibby Magazine, and Dorothy Parker's Ashes,
among others.
She lives in Santa Fe, NM with her husband and two children.
